US Stock Indices Decline Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

Major US stock indices closed lower on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq indices and the small-cap Russell 2000 experiencing the steepest declines. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 1.29%, while the Russell 2000 dropped 1.23%. The Nasdaq Composite also saw a decrease of 1.03%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 419.06 points, or 0.79%, and the S&P 500 fell by 54.67 points, or 0.71%.

Technology stocks were particularly hard hit, with several companies reporting significant losses. SharkNinja led the declines with a 9.13% drop, followed by Cadence Design at 7.60% and CrowdStrike Holdings at 6.90%. Other notable losers included Dell Technologies, which fell 6.80%, and Oracle, down 5.23%. The overall trend showed a broad sell-off in growth stocks, particularly in the technology sector, as investors reacted to rising oil prices and increased military tensions in the Middle East.

Despite the overall market downturn, Dell Technologies reported strong earnings, beating expectations with an adjusted EPS of $7.04 compared to the anticipated $4.91. The company also raised its full-year revenue forecast significantly, projecting $192 billion, well above the previous estimate of $174 billion. However, shares were initially down 6.80% following the report, indicating that the positive earnings results did not alleviate investor concerns about broader market conditions.
