Meta Platforms Launches Muse AI, Stock Surges Amid Revenue Potential

Meta Platforms has launched Muse, a new personal AI agent, on September 8, 2026, capturing significant market attention. Muse, which had been internally tested under the name Project Hatch, is designed to perform various tasks such as organizing schedules, drafting emails, shopping, and making reservations. Initially available to adults in the United States through a standalone app and WhatsApp, the technology is expected to be integrated into Meta's popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, potentially enhancing user engagement and revenue generation.

The launch of Muse comes as Meta is projected to invest between $130 billion and $145 billion in capital expenditures in 2026, primarily focused on AI infrastructure. The introduction of Muse provides a clearer path for monetization through subscription plans priced at $20 and $100 per month, as well as connections to external services like Shopify for shopping. Following the announcement, Meta's stock rose by 6.55%, with analysts noting the potential for the company to transition from heavy spending on AI to generating tangible revenue.

Despite the positive market reaction, there are concerns regarding privacy and security, as Muse will have access to sensitive information from users' emails and calendars. Meta assures that users must approve these connections and that the AI operates within a secure environment. The success of Muse will depend on user trust and its ability to deliver on its promises, as the company seeks to leverage its existing user base to drive adoption and revenue.
