PCG and EIX Stocks Plummet Following Regulatory Setbacks

PG&E (PCG) and Edison International (EIX) experienced significant declines of approximately 20% to 27% in their stock prices after California's wildfire legislation failed to provide the anticipated liability protections for utility investors. This regulatory setback has prompted analysts to downgrade their ratings on both companies, intensifying the selling pressure in the market.

In contrast, several technology stocks saw gains. Roblox (RBLX) rose about 7% following new user engagement data that suggested third-quarter bookings could surpass the company's previous guidance. CrowdStrike (CRWD) also gained around 6% after reporting strong earnings and introducing new AI-security products, extending its post-earnings rally.

Tesla (TSLA) increased by approximately 5.5%, driven by renewed interest in its Full Self-Driving and robotaxi initiatives, despite no significant changes in current vehicle deliveries. SLB's stock rose about 5% after announcing a $4.1 billion acquisition aimed at enhancing its data-center cooling capabilities, benefiting from both rising oil prices and the growing demand for AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, Amazon (AMZN) faced a decline of about 2.5% to 3% due to a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission and 22 states regarding alleged manipulation of advertising auctions.
