Oil Prices Surge Amid Inflation Concerns and Anticipation of Federal Reserve Rate Hike

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices increased by 3.9% to reach $96.69 per barrel, reflecting growing concerns over inflation and its impact on the global economy. This rise in oil prices comes as traders are closely monitoring economic indicators, particularly the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which are expected to provide insights into inflation trends.

In addition to oil, gold prices also saw an uptick, gaining 1% to $4,398.87 per ounce. The movements in these commodities are occurring against a backdrop of heightened speculation regarding potential monetary policy changes by the Federal Reserve. Currently, traders are pricing in approximately a 60% likelihood of a rate hike by the Fed in September, which would be a significant development in the U.S. economic landscape.
