Marvell Technology (MRVL) will unveil its fiscal second-quarter 2027 financial results after Thursday’s market close. Shares declined 3% to $229.64 during Monday’s premarket session, extending Friday’s 5.6% retreat.
Marvell Technology, Inc., MRVL
The recent pullback hasn’t diminished Marvell’s position as a top-tier S&P 500 performer, having climbed approximately 169% in 2026 and 214% over the last year.
Market observers anticipate that headline figures will take a backseat to forward-looking commentary and specifics surrounding Marvell’s recently unveiled custom chip collaboration with Google.
Through a warrant arrangement, Google secured the option to acquire as many as 58.97 million Marvell shares priced at $206.58 each, totaling a potential $12.19 billion investment.
This partnership encompasses the creation of Google’s proprietary silicon, including its tensor processing units (TPUs). News of the arrangement propelled Marvell shares 6.8% higher last week.
Benchmark’s Cody Acree suggests the Google collaboration will dominate Thursday’s discussion. According to his analysis, “data-center mix, the October guide and management’s treatment of the new Google relationship should matter more than a small July variance.”
Acree anticipates Marvell will initially concentrate on inference accelerators alongside TPU-connected memory, networking, and storage solutions. He further speculates that additional Google TPU design opportunities could materialize in subsequent phases.
Analyst Perspectives
B. Riley analyst Craig Ellis characterizes the Google warrant as expanding Marvell’s hyperscaler footprint while “increasing and extending the revenue growth outlook.” He observes that Marvell is “no longer seemingly on the outside looking in.”
Stifel’s research team projects more aggressively, calculating that the commercial arrangement could generate approximately $120 billion in aggregate revenue for Marvell across slightly more than six years.
J.P. Morgan analyst Harlan Sur anticipates management will provide guidance demonstrating “strong upside.” He indicates investor attention beyond immediate results will concentrate on how leadership characterizes its 2027 and 2028 data-center projections.
UBS maintains optimism for a robust quarter, positioning Marvell as “one of the more attractive ways to participate in the custom silicon, optical connectivity, and AI infrastructure buildout themes.” The firm adjusted its price objective to $300 from $340, reflecting broader weakness in compute-adjacent equities.
Options market activity indicates traders are bracing for stock movement as high as 10% in either direction through week’s end. Such swings would place potential upside near $261 or establish downside below $214.
Financial Expectations
Wall Street consensus calls for Q2 revenue of $2.71 billion, marking 35% year-over-year expansion. Adjusted earnings per share are forecast at 93 cents, compared to 67 cents in the prior-year period.
Among 13 analysts monitored by Visible Alpha, 11 maintain buy recommendations. The consensus price target of $271 suggests approximately 14% appreciation from Friday’s closing price of $237.04.
Acree maintained his Buy rating alongside a $275 price objective, indicating 16% potential upside from Friday’s session.
August has delivered 22% gains for Marvell, positioning the stock for its strongest monthly showing since June 2026.
