      Key Highlights

      • Company secured an AI computing agreement generating $1.11B monthly starting this December, adding approximately $13B annually
      • Second quarter revenue reached $7.81B, representing 91.9% growth year-over-year and surpassing EPS projections by $0.17

      • Concerns include elevated valuation at approximately 98x sales, lockup expiration creating supply pressure, and AI data center execution uncertainty

SpaceX (SPCX) shares began Friday’s session at $148.18, climbing 0.4%, following CFO Bret Johnsen’s remarks at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference where he stated the company possesses “even more conviction” about achieving a $100B annual revenue run rate.

The driving force? A newly announced AI computing partnership valued at $1.11B monthly, launching this December with a client that remains unnamed. This singular agreement contributes approximately $13B in annualized revenue to the company’s forward-looking pipeline.

Achieving the $100B annual run rate requires SpaceX to produce approximately $8.3B each month. Current monthly revenue sits around $2.6B according to second-quarter data. This translates to a required tripling of monthly revenue from present levels.

While the mathematics appear ambitious, the deal pipeline continues growing. SpaceX has already locked in a $6.7B cloud services contract scheduled to scale up in October, while existing AI computing arrangements with Google (GOOG) and Anthropic (ANTHRO) collectively produce over $2B monthly.

Johnsen emphasized that AI infrastructure investments can deliver returns in less than twelve months given the computing capacity lease agreements SpaceX has successfully negotiated.

      Infrastructure Build-Out for AI Computing

Regarding infrastructure development, SpaceX intends to deploy slightly above 2 gigawatts of ground-based AI computing capacity before 2026 concludes, with ambitions reaching 5 to 10 GW throughout 2027. Johnsen identified power accessibility as an escalating limitation for terrestrial AI infrastructure, prompting the company to evaluate space-based computing solutions for future implementation.

Second quarter financial results demonstrated the company exceeding expectations on revenue and earnings. Revenue totaled $7.81B, marking 91.9% year-over-year expansion. EPS registered a loss of $0.09, outperforming the analyst consensus loss projection of $0.26 by $0.17.

Wall Street sentiment trends favorably on balance. The equity holds a “Moderate Buy” consensus rating with analysts establishing a mean price target of $221.06. Coverage breakdown includes two Strong Buy ratings, 26 Buy recommendations, eight Hold positions, and seven Sell ratings.

      Street Coverage and Risk Factors

Recent analyst actions feature a Buy rating and $220 price objective from Pivotal Research, whereas HSBC commenced coverage with a Hold rating and $115 target. Both TD Cowen and Roth Capital maintain Buy ratings.

Risk considerations include the stock’s valuation at approximately 98 times sales, a metric that has moderated some investor optimism. Recent lockup period endings have additionally freed hundreds of millions of shares for potential sale.

Third Point revealed accumulating roughly $31 million in SPCX shares following the initial public offering. Additionally, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar purchased between $1,001 and $15,000 of SpaceX equity during August via her UBS IRA account.

The $100B run-rate objective remains dependent on the velocity at which existing contracts scale up. Any implementation setbacks could maintain SpaceX below that annualized threshold.
