L3Harris Awards Contract to Mercury for Data Recorders in Satellite Program
L3Harris Technologies has selected Mercury Systems to supply solid-state data recorders for the Tranche 3 Tracking Layer satellites as part of the Space Development Agency's (SDA) initiative. This program aims to enhance the detection and tracking capabilities of advanced hypersonic and ballistic missile threats.
The technology provided by L3Harris will incorporate infrared sensing and advanced on-orbit data processing, enabling real-time threat detection. This contract marks a significant step in bolstering national security through improved satellite capabilities.
Mercury Systems, a company known for its mission-critical processing solutions, announced the contract award on April 2, 2026. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the SDA's satellite tracking efforts.
