UiPath (PATH) Stock Surges 25% Following Historic Profitability Breakthrough
Key Takeaways
- UiPath shares have gained 25.5% since the end of July, finishing Friday’s session at $16.01
- First quarter FY2027 revenue increased 17% year-over-year to reach $418 million
- Company achieved its inaugural GAAP operating profit of $28 million
- Current trading price sits 20.8% higher than the $13.25 consensus analyst target
- Management forecasts Q2 revenue to decline 4.9% sequentially to $397.5 million at the midpoint
Shares of UiPath (PATH) finished Friday’s trading at $16.01, representing a weekly gain of 6.4% and a remarkable 25.5% surge since July 31. The automation software company’s stock has now exceeded price objectives set by major Wall Street firms including UBS, BMO Capital, DA Davidson, and Bank of America.
The impressive rally followed UiPath’s announcement of Q1 FY2027 financial results that demonstrated meaningful operational improvements. The company delivered revenue of $418 million, representing a 17% increase from the prior year period. Annual recurring revenue expanded 12% to reach $1.901 billion. Most notably, the company recorded $28 million in GAAP operating income, achieving profitability under generally accepted accounting principles for the first time.
Net new annual recurring revenue totaled $49 million, significantly outpacing the $27 million generated in the comparable quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Chief Executive Daniel Dines highlighted that the company’s “agentic products are moving from pilot to production,” signaling a strategic emphasis on artificial intelligence-powered automation capabilities as a fundamental growth driver.
Analyst Community Maintains Conservative Stance
Notwithstanding the strong stock performance, Wall Street analysts have maintained their conservative positioning on the shares. The consensus rating among 16 analysts remains Neutral, with an average price objective of $13.25. This target suggests potential downside of approximately 17% from Friday’s closing price.
UBS maintains a Hold rating with a $12 price target. BMO Capital and DA Davidson similarly rate the shares as Hold with targets ranging from $12 to $13. Bank of America carries the most bearish view with a Sell rating and a $13 target price.
PATH currently trades 34.5% above its 50-day moving average and 25.7% above its 200-day moving average. The stock’s 52-week peak stands at $19.84, positioning current levels approximately 19% below that high.
Thursday marked the stock’s most significant single-session advance, surging 9.3% to reach $16.68 before experiencing modest profit-taking on Friday. Friday’s trading volume registered around 52.1 million shares, falling short of the three-month average of 64.4 million.
Near-Term Revenue Outlook Shows Sequential Decline
UiPath provided Q2 FY2027 revenue guidance in a range of $395 million to $400 million. The midpoint of this range represents a 4.9% sequential decrease from Q1 results, though it reflects 9.8% growth compared to the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Non-GAAP operating income for the upcoming quarter is anticipated to reach $75 million, representing a decline from the $92 million reported in Q1.
The company expects ARR to climb to $1.932 billion by the conclusion of Q2, marking a modest 1.6% sequential expansion.
UiPath’s robust gross margin profile provides financial flexibility to continue investing in artificial intelligence innovation and go-to-market initiatives without requiring additional leverage.
Customer attrition among smaller accounts represents a potential headwind. The company is experiencing the majority of customer departures in this lower-tier segment, creating uncertainty around the pace of net new ARR expansion moving forward.
Chief Accounting Officer Hitesh Ramani executed sales of 50,000 PATH shares during Thursday and Friday sessions, generating approximately $831,250 in proceeds. These transactions occurred under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan established in March, indicating they were predetermined rather than discretionary in nature. Ramani continues to maintain direct ownership of 235,052 shares.
UiPath is slated to release its next quarterly earnings report on September 3 following the market close.
