Following Monday’s close at $492.47, Tuesday’s advance marked the most significant single-session gain in several weeks. The streaming platform now trades comfortably above its 50-day moving average of $483.26 and its 200-day moving average of $484.68.

New institutional capital appears to be powering the upward movement. Investment firms including Plato Investment Management and Commerzbank have recently established or expanded positions, helping to rebuild investor confidence following a temporary decline after the company’s August 4 quarterly results.

During that earnings announcement, Spotify reported earnings per share of $2.98, falling short of the $3.16 Wall Street estimate. The company generated $5.45 billion in revenue, slightly below the anticipated $5.47 billion. Despite the miss, revenues expanded 13.9% compared to the same period last year.

Universal Music Partnership and Growth Projections Boost Confidence

Beyond the earnings shortfall, Spotify’s third-quarter forecast projected unprecedented subscriber expansion and improving profit margins. The streaming giant also unveiled an AI-centered licensing arrangement with Universal Music Group, which market observers interpreted as a constructive development for future revenue generation.

The company’s expansion into artificial intelligence capabilities, audiobook content, and event ticketing has attracted analyst attention as a pathway to more profitable revenue streams. These initiatives could diminish dependence on advertising-based income, which has demonstrated slower growth recently.

Wall Street maintains a generally optimistic outlook on the shares. Two analysts assign a Strong Buy recommendation, seventeen rate it as a Buy, and six maintain Hold ratings. The average price target of $609.05 represents significant upside from current levels.

      Wall Street Price Objectives

Recent analyst target adjustments have shown varied perspectives. Citizens JMP increased its objective from $600 to $625 while reaffirming a “market outperform” stance. Benchmark reduced its target from $695 to $650 but retained a “Buy” recommendation. Cantor Fitzgerald elevated its price goal from $510 to $530 alongside a “Neutral” rating.

Both Weiss Ratings and Wall Street Zen have downgraded their recommendations in recent months, shifting to Hold-equivalent positions.

Regarding insider activity, Chief Executive Officer Alex Norstrom divested 5,436 shares on August 3 at an average price of $502.10, a sale connected to tax liabilities from equity compensation vesting. Collectively, company insiders have sold approximately $59.1 million in stock during the past 90 days.

Institutional shareholders control 84.09% of outstanding shares. Notable recent additions include Norges Bank, which initiated a new stake valued at roughly $711 million in the fourth quarter, and UBS Asset Management, which expanded its holdings by 1,382%.

Spotify maintains a market capitalization of $107.5 billion, trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 32.47, and exhibits a beta coefficient of 1.58.
