Palo Alto Networks (PANW) Stock: Analyst Expectations for Tuesday’s Q4 Earnings Report
Key Takeaways
- Shares of PANW climbed over 3% Monday in anticipation of Q4 FY26 results scheduled for release after the closing bell on September 1.
- Evercore maintained its Buy recommendation with a $415 target price, forecasting strong quarterly performance from Palo Alto Networks.
- Analysts project Q4 revenue will reach $3.35 billion, representing a 32% increase compared to the prior year and establishing a new milestone for the company.
- Earnings per share estimates stand at $0.98, reflecting a 3.2% annual increase; the company has surpassed EPS projections for six consecutive quarters.
- The analyst community maintains a Strong Buy stance on PANW with 37 Buy and 5 Hold ratings, although shares have declined following four of the previous five earnings announcements.
Palo Alto Networks is scheduled to unveil its Q4 FY26 financial results after Tuesday’s market close on September 1. Shares traded at $381.65 during Monday’s session, gaining approximately 2.7%, positioned within the 52-week trading band of $139.57 to $398.87.
Palo Alto Networks, Inc., PANW
The stock has surged approximately 109% year-to-date in 2026, approaching record levels as the earnings announcement nears.
The Street anticipates Q4 revenue will total $3.35 billion, compared to $2.54 billion during the comparable period last year. This projection would represent a company milestone, exceeding the $3.00 billion posted in Q3.
Earnings per share projections sit at $0.98, up from $0.95 in the year-ago quarter. Palo Alto has exceeded EPS expectations in six consecutive quarters and in eight of the past ten reporting periods.
Evercore analyst Peter Levine maintained his Buy stance with a $415 target ahead of the earnings release. He highlighted robust pipeline development and ongoing platform consolidation as primary catalysts.
Levine referenced survey findings indicating a more favorable outlook compared to previous quarters. Channel partner feedback suggested improving sales pipelines and sustained revenue growth momentum throughout the coming 12 months.
Activity in large transactions increased sequentially, fueled by platform consolidation trends and heightened demand for AI-focused security solutions. Levine anticipates Q4 product revenue could exceed expectations, bolstered by record Q3 hardware appliance backlog levels and pricing increases implemented in April.
A particularly notable data point from channel research: 67% of partners characterized AI-related cybersecurity threats as urgent, a substantial increase from only 26% in Q3 FY26.
Wall Street Price Target Updates
Several analysts updated their price objectives before the earnings release. Jefferies increased its target from $335 to $450, BMO Capital adjusted upward from $335 to $415, JPMorgan raised its forecast from $326 to $384, and Benchmark elevated its target from $340 to $400. BTIG maintained its $380 price target.
The consensus rating across Wall Street is Strong Buy, comprising 37 Buy recommendations and 5 Hold ratings. The mean price objective stands at $374.68.
Key Factors to Monitor
Despite the optimistic analyst sentiment, several considerations warrant attention. Freedom Capital Markets strategist Jay Woods highlighted that PANW shares have declined following four of the company’s last five earnings releases.
Woods also observed the stock’s inability to establish new peaks after CrowdStrike’s impressive results last week, despite an initial gap higher. Technical indicators including RSI and MACD are displaying bearish divergences, which Woods suggests can emerge at momentum extremes.
He identified $390 as a recent resistance level and $330 as a support threshold. A positive report that nonetheless fails to achieve new closing highs could foreshadow potential weakness ahead.
CrowdStrike delivered its strongest quarter ever last week, establishing elevated benchmarks for cybersecurity sector peers. PANW represents the largest position in both the Amplify Cybersecurity ETF (HACK) at 6.3% weighting and the First Trust Nasdaq Cybersecurity ETF (CIBR) at 9.2%.
Market participants and analysts will concentrate on whether results exceed both revenue and earnings estimates, bookings momentum, and forward guidance for fiscal year 2027.
Palo Alto elevated its full-year outlook following Q3 results, intensifying expectations surrounding Tuesday’s announcement.
