Nvidia (NVDA) Stock: BofA Sets $350 Target With 60% Upside Potential
Key Takeaways
- Bank of America maintains its $350 price objective for Nvidia (NVDA), while shares opened Wednesday trading at $219
- The chipmaker trades at a 40%-50% valuation discount compared to artificial intelligence computing competitors based on enterprise value-to-free cash flow metrics
- NVDA shares are valued 31%-36% lower than the S&P 500, creating what BofA describes as an attractive entry point
- The stock remains 7% away from its 52-week peak of $236.54, reached on May 14
- Stifel’s Ruben Roy anticipates Nvidia will exceed expectations and raise guidance during its Aug. 26 financial report
Nvidia (NVDA) began Wednesday’s session at $219 per share, a valuation that Bank of America considers significantly underpriced. BofA’s Vivek Arya has maintained his $350 price objective for the semiconductor giant, suggesting potential gains of nearly $130 from present trading levels.
In his Tuesday client communication, Arya emphasized Nvidia’s attractive valuation metrics as the central investment argument. Compared to other AI computing companies, NVDA trades at a 40%-50% discount when measured by enterprise value-to-free cash flow. Additionally, the stock sits 31%-36% beneath the S&P 500 using identical valuation parameters.
According to BofA, this valuation gap represents a market inefficiency. Arya contends the disparity “overstates the risks” associated with capital deployed in private artificial intelligence ventures such as OpenAI and Anthropic, recommending institutional investors establish positions at current price levels.
BofA’s Bullish Outlook Explained
Central to BofA’s optimistic perspective is Nvidia’s $105 billion infrastructure partnership with OpenAI. The bank characterizes this arrangement as transforming Nvidia from merely a semiconductor vendor into an integral infrastructure partner within the AI landscape, delivering electricity, facilities, and processing hardware to emerging cloud platforms and advanced research laboratories.
Arya further noted a strategic diversification approach. While major cloud providers including Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft pursue proprietary chip development initiatives, Nvidia has been broadening its customer portfolio through investments in emerging AI enterprises. This strategy establishes alternative revenue channels should purchasing volumes from hyperscalers decelerate.
Although NVDA has gained 8% during the previous month, the stock continues trading 7% underneath its annual high of $236.54, established on May 14.
Upcoming Earnings in Focus
Market attention has shifted to Aug. 26, when Nvidia will unveil quarterly results. Stifel’s Ruben Roy forecasts the company will surpass consensus estimates and elevate forward guidance.
Roy referenced encouraging industry trends throughout the reporting season, highlighting expanded cloud service provider capital spending commitments, Foxconn’s cloud and networking division surpassing 50% of total revenue for the first time, and Super Micro securing more than $60 billion in fresh orders within a single quarter.
Roy identified gross margin dynamics, rather than demand concerns, as the primary consideration. Memory component pricing and competitive pressures in inference workloads might pressure profitability, though he suggests these headwinds are partially reflected in current valuation multiples.
Investor sentiment heading into Aug. 26 appears constructive. Market participants anticipate robust financial performance and optimistic forward commentary from CEO Jensen Huang during the earnings conference call.
Shares declined 2.34% on Wednesday, reflecting ongoing near-term price fluctuations despite sustained analyst confidence in the company’s long-term trajectory.
