      Japanese Government to Subsidize Sony's Image Sensor Factory

      The Japanese government has announced it will provide subsidies of up to 60 billion yen, equivalent to approximately $380 million, to Sony for the construction of an image sensor factory in Kumamoto Prefecture. Industry Minister Ryosei Akazawa made the announcement during a press conference on Friday.

      Akazawa emphasized the importance of image sensors, stating they are essential for advancements in autonomous driving and physical AI technologies. He expressed hope that the subsidies would help ensure a stable supply of these critical components in the future.
