Silver Faces Sixth Consecutive Year of Supply Shortage
Silver is projected to experience its sixth consecutive year of structural deficit, according to the Silver Institute's World Silver Survey 2026. The survey estimates a shortfall of 46.3 million ounces, which is 15% larger than the 40.3 million ounces reported in 2025.
The total supply of silver is expected to decline by 2%, while demand is anticipated to decrease only slightly. This ongoing supply shortage has contributed to a significant reduction in above-ground silver stocks, which have decreased by a cumulative 762 million ounces since 2021.
