Shares of medical device manufacturer Stryker (SYK) tumbled 8.9% to close at $276.16 on Wednesday, after hitting an intraday 52-week bottom of $275.10. The stock now trades significantly beneath both its 50-day moving average of $327.52 and 200-day moving average of $328.30.
The sharp decline followed Wells Fargo‘s decision to slash its price objective on SYK from $418 down to $348, while maintaining its Overweight recommendation. This adjustment came after Stryker participated in the 2026 Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference held in Boston, where CFO Preston Wells and VP of Investor Relations Nick Mead spoke on behalf of the medical technology firm.
Wells Fargo reduced its 2026 revenue forecast to $27,209 million from a previous estimate of $27,325 million. This projection suggests organic growth of 8.1%, falling below Stryker’s official guidance range of 8.3% to 9.3%.
Additionally, the bank reduced its Q3 organic growth projection to 8.9% from 10.1%. Wells Fargo pointed to ongoing headwinds affecting peripheral vascular products along with hip and knee replacement segments worldwide throughout the remainder of 2026.
The firm’s adjusted EPS forecast for 2026 was trimmed to $14.95 from $15.02, positioning it at the lower boundary of Stryker’s guidance range of $14.95 to $15.10.
Wall Street Remains Largely Bullish
Notwithstanding the recent selloff, analyst sentiment toward Stryker remains generally favorable. The stock holds a “Moderate Buy” consensus, supported by one Strong Buy, seventeen Buy recommendations, and six Hold ratings.
The consensus price objective stands at $386.28, representing substantial upside from current trading levels. Piper Sandler maintained its Overweight rating while reducing its target to $390. JPMorgan lowered its forecast to $350, also retaining an Overweight view. Leerink Partners maintains an Outperform rating with a $407 price target.
Stryker most recently announced Q2 2026 financial results on July 30th. The company delivered adjusted EPS of $3.69, surpassing analyst expectations of $3.49 by $0.20. Revenue totaled $6.59 billion, marginally exceeding the $6.58 billion consensus estimate.
Second-quarter revenue climbed 9.4% on a year-over-year basis. Earnings per share increased 18% versus the comparable period in 2025.
In response to these results, Wolfe Research increased its price target to $375 from $350 while maintaining an Outperform rating. Conversely, Citizens reduced its target to $400 from $440, highlighting supply chain disruptions and a cyberattack that impacted operations earlier in the fiscal year.

Recent insider trading activity has attracted attention from market observers. Over the previous quarter, company insiders divested 351,267 shares totaling roughly $118.2 million.
Insider Debra King disposed of 826 shares on August 18th at a price of $336.30 per share. Dylan Crotty sold 441 shares on August 21st at $328.61 per share. Corporate insiders collectively maintain ownership of 4.60% of outstanding shares.
Among institutional investors, California State Teachers Retirement System significantly expanded its position during Q2. The pension fund now controls 163.4 million shares with an estimated value of approximately $51.4 billion.
