The Street’s consensus calls for earnings per share of $1.74, representing an 18% increase compared to last year’s corresponding period. Analysts project revenues reaching $19.13 billion, a substantial 28% jump year-over-year. ORCL shares have climbed 8.4% during the last 30 days, despite trailing approximately 16% lower on a year-to-date basis.

Guggenheim’s John DiFucci reaffirmed his bullish stance prior to the earnings release, maintaining a $400 price objective. DiFucci designated Oracle as his firm’s top pick and characterized it as a long-term investment opportunity. On TipRanks, DiFucci holds the 238th position among over 12,500 tracked analysts, boasting a 63% accuracy rate with average gains of 18.2% per recommendation.

      Equity Offering Weighs on Sentiment

A significant factor clouding the earnings outlook involves Oracle’s planned equity financing. DiFucci identifies the $20 billion at-the-market offering as the primary headwind affecting ORCL shares since last quarter’s results, overshadowing even OpenAI concentration concerns.

The company refrained from issuing new equity during Q4 FY26, and market participants will monitor developments on this initiative. DiFucci suggests that completing a substantial portion of the offering could trigger positive near-term sentiment.

Nevertheless, he warned that an additional equity raise remains possible. Oracle intends to secure $40 billion throughout FY27, with no further capital raises anticipated through the remainder of calendar 2026. While the outstanding $20 billion was broadly expected to materialize through debt issuance in early 2027, DiFucci indicates recent discussions with rating agencies hint at potential equity components.

      Cloud Infrastructure and Profitability Outlook

For Q1 FY27, Oracle’s Cloud Services projection indicates 57% to 63% expansion on a constant currency basis. DiFucci notes this suggests a substantial IaaS acceleration, with approximately $9 billion in fresh IaaS annual recurring revenue anticipated to launch this quarter, versus $4.2 billion during Q4 FY26.

This projection corresponds with statements from co-CEO Clay Magouyrk, who indicated new infrastructure capacity in Q1 FY27 should approach 1 gigawatt, following the 1.2 gigawatts deployed throughout the entirety of FY26.

Regarding profitability metrics, DiFucci anticipates cloud gross margin will experience temporary headwinds attributable to the timing gap between infrastructure deployment and customer activation. Operating margin should demonstrate greater resilience, bolstered by expense management initiatives. He additionally noted that FY28 capital expenditures will likely exceed FY27 levels, contrary to widespread expectations of flat spending.

Industry channel checks referenced in the analyst note indicate steady-to-positive momentum across Oracle’s SaaS portfolio and database product lines.
