Mobix Labs (MOBX) Stock Rockets Over 40% After Securing F-16 Fighter Jet Contract
Key Highlights
- Mobix Labs (MOBX) shares skyrocketed more than 40% following the announcement of its inaugural F-16 component production contract
- The contract involves supplying EMI-filtered connectors manufactured at the company’s defense-certified Irvine, California production site
- First batch of components has been shipped to the customer, with the balance scheduled for delivery within weeks
- F-16 addition expands Mobix’s fighter aircraft program roster to include F-22, F-35, F/A-18, and Apache rotorcraft
- The company disclosed a nearly five-times increase in F-22 component demand earlier this year after winning new agreements in April
Shares of [[LINK_START_1]]Mobix Labs (MOBX)[[LINK_END_1]] experienced a dramatic rally exceeding 40% during Tuesday’s trading session, pushing the stock price back above the $1 threshold following news that the company secured its inaugural production contract for parts destined for Lockheed Martin’s F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. At its intraday high, MOBX touched approximately $1.32.
A veteran-owned aerospace sustainment contractor serving the United States Air Force’s F-16 operations placed the order. The contract encompasses electromagnetic interference-filtered connectors manufactured by the company’s EMI Solutions division at its defense-qualified manufacturing center located in Irvine, California.
The first portion of the order has been shipped to the customer. Mobix Labs anticipates completing delivery of the outstanding units within the next several weeks.
These specialized EMI-filtered connectors serve a crucial function: safeguarding electronic systems against electromagnetic interference. Within contemporary fighter aircraft, multiple critical systems—including radar arrays, communication equipment, navigation instruments, electronic warfare suites, and weapons platforms—operate in extremely close quarters, making electromagnetic protection essential for mission success.
Phil Sansone, the company’s CEO, referenced Mobix Labs’ established performance on the F-22 program as validation of its ability to scale within premier fighter aircraft platforms. “The F-16 represents another important expansion of Mobix Labs’ position across major U.S. military aircraft programs,” Sansone stated.
Earlier this year in April, the company announced an approximately fivefold surge in component orders for the F-22 Raptor program following the receipt of both new contracts and expansions to existing agreements from a pair of F-22 subcontractors. Mobix Labs is positioning this F-16 contract as a continuation of that growth momentum.
F-16 Platform Offers Extended Growth Opportunity
The F-16 Fighting Falcon represents one of the most numerous fighter aircraft types currently operated by the United States Air Force, with deployments spanning active-duty squadrons, Air National Guard wings, and Air Force Reserve units.
Through the Air Force’s Service Life Extension Program, upgraded F-16 airframes are being extended from their initial 8,000 flight-hour design life to as much as 12,000 flight hours. This modernization effort is projected to maintain significant portions of the fleet in operational service approaching 2050. Additionally, newly manufactured F-16 Block 70/72 variants continue rolling off production lines for international customers, ensuring sustained production and maintenance demand for the foreseeable future.
Expanding Presence Across Fighter Programs
With this latest F-16 contract award, Mobix Labs has expanded its fighter aircraft program portfolio to four distinct platforms. The company currently provides components for the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II, F/A-18 Super Hornet, and now the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
Beyond the fighter jet segment, Mobix maintains supply relationships for Apache attack helicopter systems, secure communications equipment for U.S. Navy vessels, various missile platforms, Gulfstream business aircraft, and certified avionics for Boeing 737NG aircraft.
Lockheed Martin (LMT) shares also experienced modest gains, advancing approximately 1.7% during the same trading session.
MOBX closed up 41.92% at $1.32 on Tuesday, marking its first positive trading session in September.
