European Markets Show Caution Ahead of Jackson Hole Meeting

European equities experienced slight gains as traders await the upcoming speech by Federal Reserve Chair Warsh at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium. The DAX index has approached near all-time highs, while French stocks have rebounded following a previous decline. Despite these positive movements in Europe, overall market activity has been subdued, with many investors opting for caution ahead of the key event.

In the currency markets, the US dollar remained relatively stable, with the EUR/USD pair holding steady at 1.1645. The USD/JPY saw a minor increase of 0.2%, reaching 159.65. Gold prices also remained flat, hovering around the $4,600 mark, as market participants await further direction from Warsh's anticipated remarks.

In other financial news, the US 10-year Treasury yields rose slightly by 1.2 basis points to 4.686%. Meanwhile, WTI crude oil prices increased by 0.4% to $83.22, although tensions between the US and Iran continue to impact the market. Bitcoin experienced a decline of 0.6%, trading at $79,631. Overall, the market sentiment remains cautious as investors prepare for potential shifts in interest rate expectations following the Jackson Hole meeting.
