Duke Energy Restructures Gas Portfolio with New Plant and Business Sale

Duke Energy has received approval from the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to construct a high-efficiency natural gas plant in Anderson County, which will have a capacity of approximately 1,365 megawatts. This development is part of the company's strategy to enhance its gas portfolio and focus on regulated generation that supports regional growth.

In addition to the new plant, Duke Energy has finalized the sale of its Tennessee Piedmont Natural Gas distribution business to Spire for $2.48 billion. This transaction marks a significant shift for the company as it exits a non-core distribution market, allowing it to redirect resources towards more strategic investments in generation facilities.
