Chainlink (LINK) Rallies 7% as Bottomline Integrates $16T Payment Network with Blockchain
Key Highlights
- Bottomline has chosen Chainlink as its blockchain connectivity solution, linking a $16 trillion yearly payments infrastructure to both public and private blockchain networks.
- More than 600 banking institutions can now utilize onchain payment infrastructure without abandoning their current ISO 20022 messaging protocols.
- Chainlink’s CCIP technology and CRE framework will manage cross-blockchain transactions and orchestrate payment processing workflows.
- LINK experienced approximately 50% gains before developing a bullish pennant formation on daily charts, with technical analysts identifying targets at $12, $15.5, $20, and $27.
- Leading financial institutions such as Swift, JPMorgan, UBS, ANZ, and BNY Mellon have already integrated Chainlink technology into their operations.
Bottomline, ranked among the three largest Swift service providers globally, has announced its selection of Chainlink to bridge its payment infrastructure with blockchain technology. The financial services company handles over $16 trillion in annual transaction volume and maintains relationships with more than 600 banking institutions, 1,200 financial services providers, and 10,000 corporate clients across the globe.
This strategic collaboration enables Bottomline’s banking clients to tap into blockchain-based settlement capabilities while maintaining their established operational frameworks. Transaction messages will remain formatted in ISO 20022 standards, the widely adopted messaging protocol used throughout the financial services industry.
Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) will facilitate the movement of tokenized assets between different blockchain ecosystems. Meanwhile, its Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) will orchestrate complete payment processes spanning traditional banking infrastructure and blockchain technology layers.
Financial institutions utilizing this service gain access to numerous public and private blockchain networks via one unified integration point, eliminating the need to develop custom connections for individual networks.
International payment transfers represent a primary application area. The partnership materials indicate that cross-border transactions often require multiple days for final settlement, with transaction costs frequently exceeding 5% of the transfer amount. The Chainlink integration provides participating financial institutions with an alternative settlement pathway.
The announcement did not reveal specific transaction volumes, deployment schedules, or names of banks participating in the initial rollout.
Expanding Enterprise Adoption of Chainlink
This collaboration represents the latest in a series of enterprise-level Chainlink deployments. Major institutions including Swift, JPMorgan, UBS, ANZ, BNY Mellon, and Abu Dhabi’s ADI Foundation have already incorporated Chainlink technology into their systems.

JPMorgan executed its inaugural public blockchain settlement utilizing Chainlink technology in May 2025, processing tokenized U.S. Treasury securities through Ondo Finance. Aave designated CCIP as its primary cross-chain solution in July, while BitGo announced in August it would use CCIP exclusively for its Wrapped Bitcoin platform, which managed approximately $7.3 billion in assets at that time.
Standard Chartered’s digital asset analysts observed in August that non-crypto-native clients are projected to contribute an increasing portion of Chainlink fee revenue as tokenization initiatives transition from pilot phases to full-scale deployment.
Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure currently protects roughly $33.1 billion in aggregate value spanning 505 protocols, while CCIP has processed more than $18 billion in cross-blockchain transactions across over 70 different networks.
